Four unanswered give the Eagles their 3rd straight MAPHL crown

In an MAPHL playoff that saw every lower seed advance from the Quarter Final round for the first time ever, the Gonzaga Eagles were, yet again, the last team standing when it was all dais and done.

Wait, Gonzaga did it’s thing again, and brought home another ‘ship, how the hell did every lower seed advance? Gonzaga (6-4-0) finished 5th in the regular season standing, give them their lowest playoff seed in, well, quite some time. The previous four seasons the Eagles came into the playoff’s as the #1 seed, winning two of the last four, and appearing in a third.

Just a few weeks prior, Gonzaga dropped it’s regular season finale to Spalding, in a tough 2-1 decision at Piney. Gonzaga then went on to upset a solid O’Connell team on the road in the quarters, took out the Landon Bears in the semi’s who came off an emotional win over DeMatha, then found themselves facing Rob Trantin and hot handed Cavalries team.

Gonzaga kicked off the scoring, Spalding tied it with a goal line snipe, then the Eagles took over scoring four straight and dominating play from there on out. A couple good scraps at the end and some high emotions is the hook we left the season to hang on, and we say the Gonzaga Eagles bright home for a third year in a row as the MAPHL AA Champs. Congrats boys, its #RingSZN
