The boys in Red host the slumping Dallas Stars tonight to start off on a Western run here as we play our next 4 games against central division teams. We’ll play Dallas again on Saturday so this should set up for an interesting game Saturday. AND KUZY IS BACK BABY AND IS OFF THAT PABLO YESCOBAR. He opens up the scoring early with a quick backhand tuck right next to the peanut butter.
Caps dominate the first period and lead 1-0.
Red starts the second period buzzing with multiple scoring chances but Bishop stays sharp. The Stars capitalize on a turnover and buries one glove side on Holtby to tie the game up courtesy of one of their young guns who is poised to have a breakout season Roope Hintz.
John Carlson sneaks one by Bishop that he will certainly want back to put the Caps up 2-1 going into the 3rd. BISHOP YA DUNCE ITS ALL YOUR FAULT.
Caps getting heavily outplayed in the 3rd as the Stars coming storming back with 2 goals in the 3rd. The two teams exchange multiple penalties towards the end of the game only to remind us of how fucking awful the Caps powerplay is. It’s amazing how after 5 years of running the same powerplay that the coaching staff doesn’t change a single thing when its not working.
In the last 1:30 of the period the Caps yank Holtby and put some serious pressure on the Stars. An Ovie one-timer from the office breaks Tyler Seguin’s stick as they can’t get the puck out of the zone. Seguin goes to the bench to try and grab a stick leaving it to a 6 on 4 for about 5 seconds and the boys CAPITALIZE on it to snag a point. Another OT game for the Caps.
Reirden makes a questionable call putting Kuzy and Ovie out in 3-on-3 OT, two guys not normally known for being defensively sound. Ovie tries to make a play going in on a 1-on-3 with no support. Turns the puck over and creates a 2-on-1 the other way with Seguin and Radulov (not who you want to see on a 2-on-1). Seguin makes up for his mistake and buries rubber to take the extra point in Washington. A frustrating game to say the least considering they were up for most of this game.
Hopefully they turn things around on Thursday against the Predators as they need to find a solution to their powerplay. The boys feel a little snakebit right now as they are finding chances but not tucking. Let’s starting finding ways to win here red!
