Another weekend of college hockey in the DMV is in the books and we’re here to give you all the scores, info, and news you might of missed. As per usual, the recap is for those teams not in the power rankings, so if you don’t see your team in here, they are probably in the top 10. Let’s fire it up and get right into it.

Tigers Get First Dub

Towson (1-7-0-0) hosted Cleary University and would pick up their first win on the season Friday night by a score of 5-4. Nate Dailey would get a feed from Ryan Dieter and smoke one past the Cleary goalie for the lead with 9 min remaining in the third, and the Tigers would hold on yo win. Towson however would drop Saturday’s contest 2-4, but great on the Tigers for getting that first win off their back, and here’s to hoping they build off of it.

Terps Get Shelled

The Terps (3-1-0-2) had a rough go of it this weekend at the ACCHL Virginia Invitational at Virginia Tech. They would drop an OT game 4-5 to Virginia Tech, and another OT loss, at the same score of 4-5 to Virginia. They would leave the weekend with a 3-1 win over JMU. They’ll put this weekend behind them and move on to the next and look to get back in the win column. Until then, the not-so-ideal weekend slid them out of the Chirpin DMV power rankings.

Rough Sailing for Navy

The Navy Men’s D2 team (2-4-0-0) struggled at home all weekend vs a very good Xaiver program, losing 2-12 and 1-9. We won’t go too much into it, as it wasn’t pretty. The hot start Navy Ladies (5-1-1-0) finally met their match as they traveled to East Lansing and tied Michigan State on Saturday 1-1 before losing their first game of the season the following day, 4-6.

Lady Terps Light it Up

The Lady Terps (3-1-0-0) had a hell of a weekend defeating Loyola 7-5 and Towson 12-0, combining for 19 goals on the weekend and getting off to a hot 3-1 start and first place in the DVCHC D2 South division. Alix MacKillop is leading the way with 9G-4A–13PTS in just four games, with a double hat-trick this weekend putting in three against Loyola and four vs Towson.

Lady Flames Sweep

Liberty’s Womens D1 team (6-1-0-1) would sweep UMASS Lowell with a 5-1 Saturday win, followed by a 9-2 Sunday trouncing. The Lady Flames would outshoot UMASS 45-14 in Saturday’s game and be led by a 2G-1A–3PT game from Yannick Truter. Sunday was no different, as Liberty got two goals each from Truter, Demerchant, and Manchak. The Lady Flames are going into a four game weekend playing as bout as well as anyone in the DMV.

Women’s DVCHC D2 South Showdowns

Three other teams in the DVCHC South Division were in action this weekend as the divisions schedule starts to get into full swing. George Washington (0-4-0-0) dropped their two road contests to Rowan and West Chester, while Loyola (1-1-0-0) would split their opening weekend, beating Montclair State 7-1, and losing to Maryland 5-7. Lastly, Towson’s (1-2-0-0) exciting start to the season would hit a wall this weekend as they would lose to both Montclair State and the Lady Terps.

17 L’s for Virginia Teams

WeLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, not a ton to say here. It was a tough weekend for some Virginia teams down at the Chilled Ponds and at the ACCHL Virginia Invitational. JMU (0-6-0-0) dropped all three of their contest to Kentucky, Maryland, and Louisville, as well as VCU (0-3-0-0) losing all three this weekend to App State, The Citadel, and High Point. William & Mary (1-4-0-0) dropped 3, Old Dominion (2-4-0-0) would lose two, Radford (0-3-0-0) and American (0-4-0-0) also lost all three and would all join weekend win-less club.
