The third edition of the Chipin’ DMV power rankings are here and we’ve got some subtle movement in the top 10. Navy D1 drops after a winless weekend, but most teams stay consistent or only move a spot or two. The top three stays untouched as Stevenson and both the Liberty D1 and D2 teams stay red hot to start the season. If you see any of those three teams on your schedule, maybe don’t show up to the rink that day, just sayin’.

#1 – Liberty (ACHA D1) 9-0-0-0

The D1 Flames find themselves as the new #1 team in the DMV. Who’d they pass? Their D2 brothers, but, it’s hard to argue against a team that’s UNDEFEATED 9 game into the season. I kept telling myself “let’s see if they keep winning before I move em up” … well, they keep winning, and hosted Syracuse this weekend for a clean sweep. They beat the Orange by scores of 4-2 and 4-1. Jordan Bochinski would ball out in game one with a 3G-1A–4PT stat line, and game two would see Liberty get goals from four different guys in Thomposon, Clarke, Ryan, and Bartel.

Weekend Results: FRI vs Syracuse 4-2 W, SAT vs Syracuse 4-1 W

#2 – Liberty (ACHA D2) 11-1-0-0

The D2 Flames drop to #2 in this weeks power rankings, and no, they didn’t lose, they just aren’t undefeated, so as mentioned above, had to show D1 some love. In fact, they absolutely THROTTLED Drexel this weekend. They Flames combined for 17 goals while only giving up 3 en route to another weekend sweep. They head to their second showcase in three weekends coming up, so a chance at another three wins to keep the hand absolutely scorching.

Weekend Results: FRI vs Drexel 11-2 W, SAT vs Drexel 6-1 W

Next up: 10/25 through 10/27 @ Lindenwood University Showcase: Wentzville, University of Cincinnati, and UMASS-Amherst

We talked about Stevenson on Friday in the college hockey preview blog and stated they had a massive weekend ahead. They welcomed in two tough teams in NC State and Penn State. NC State, just a weekend ago, gave Liberty D2 their first and only loss of the season. What did Stevenson do? They straight up DUMMYED em 5-2. Just completely outplayed the Wolfpack to set the tone for the weekend. A day later? They would find themselves in 5-2 hole… let me repeat that… A 5-2 HOLE.. DOWN 3… what did they do? They fuckin’ rallied. Watterson would net one on the PP, followed by Foschini with 17:08 to play, and then Ramage would tie it off a rebound with 3:20 left to play and send it to OT, to eventually go to a shootout. Foschini would net the shootout winner, and Dushenko would stop every shooter on Penn State. The green horses needed a weekend and boy did they have one.

Weekend Results: FRI vs NC State 5-2 W, SAT vs Penn State 6-5 SOW

Next up: 10/26 vs #9 George Mason (5-3-0-1)

#4 – Virginia Tech (ACHA D2) 7-2-0-2

The Hokies are moving up a spot after handily beating Navy D2 this weekend by a score of 7-3. They were ranked behind Salisbury, who dropped their only contest of the weekend, dropping them a spot as well. As we mentioned in the weekend preview, this was a charity game benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and former Navy player Jason Jablonski. Dachille would net two in the game, joined by Hoey, Hathaway, and Potochny. Gavin Morrison would dangle a few for an unreal shorty to put the Hokies up 3 rip. Hit him up ladies, cause #ShawtyWannaRideee. Check the tweet below to bid on game worn jerseys.

Salisbury slides a spot as they drop their only contest of the weekend vs Rowan. After the 1st, the score would sit tied at 0-0, each team would strike in the 2nd making it a 1-1 game, but the Gulls would eventually fall in a hard fought battle 2-3. They have another one game weekend ahead as they welcome in Stockton.

George Washington had a bye weekend, but at 4-1-0-0, they won’t be moving anywhere in the rankings. No good OR bad can come from a bye weekend, so they’ll stay steady at #6.

Virginia is staying at #7 this weekend after only having one game, in which they hosted win-less JMU. The Cavs got away with a 5-4 win, which is why they won’t be moving up or dropping down. A win is a win, but vs an 0-7 JMU team…Thomas Dale would lead the way for Wahoo hockey with a 3G-2A–5PT night. Take a look below to see a good boy at the rink. 13/10 would boop.

CNU took a roady to UNC Wilmington this weekend where they would split the two game series, losing 4-7, but then picking up a game two win by a score of 8-2. They whole team would contribute in the win as Ryerse would score 2, and Quigley, Day, Matta, Cornelius (first of the season), Westby , and Fischer would all find the back of the net. Tendy Giarratana would stand tall, turning away 27 of 29 shots he faced.

The Patriots would travel to New Jersey to take on Rowan for the second time in as many weekends, and would walk away with a second win in as many tries. We’ll let you take a guess as to who scored for Mason this weekend… any one? TUCKS came from Contos (2), The #SmithShow had a hattrick (yet again, and again, and again), Grose, Ryan, and Rose. They’ve got a big two game weekend ahead, and one we’ll deff be keeping an eye on is the match-up with #3 Stevenson.

Weekend Results: FRI @ Rowan 9-3 W

Next up: 10/25 vs U-Cal of PA (1-0-1-0), 10/26 @ #3 Stevenson (6-1-0-0)

The Cards slide back into the top 10 after previously ranked #10 Navy D1 drops both games on the road this past weekend. The Cards would host Franklin & Marshall and walk away with a 7-4 win. They’re only 4 games in, but have yet another bye weekend upcoming.
