DMV college hockey games for the weekend of 10/25-10/27, 2019
Top 10 Match-up in Reisterstown
Saturday…5:30… Reisterstown… the biggest college game in the DMV this weekend. It’s a rematch between two Chirpin DMV top 10 teams as #3 Stevenson (6-1-0-0) hosts #9 George Mason (5-3-0-1). Earlier in the season, Stevenson would beat George Mason 6-1, but since then, Mason is now coming in a a 4 game winning streak, with star forward Cam Smith lightning the lamp 7 times on that streak. Expect a much closer contest then the first meeting between the two as both teams have seemingly found their stride and are heating up.
To finish off the weekend for both team, George Mason will be hosting University of California PA on Friday night, while Stevenson will be traveling to Drexel for a Sunday match-up.
Hokies Head South
#4 Virginia Tech (7-2-0-2) is quickly becoming one of my favorite teams in the DMV, which is a slight cringe to say as a West Virginia alum, but these guys are awesome, not just on the ice, but reppin’ the Chirpin DMV brand too. Beauty’s like Gavin Morrison are interacting with the brand, sharing episodes to his social, Coach Mullen, guest of the pod in our college preview show, is DM’ing us on Twitter and conversating with the boys. Absolutely lovin’ the Hokies in the early go. They’ll be kickin south this weekend as they take on Duke (fuck Duke, am I right Maryland people?) tonight, and then Elon on Saturday. Two big wins for VT and they’ll be steady as she goes in the top 5.
Keep the Fire HOT
The new #1 Liberty D1 (9-0-0-0) looks to stay undefeated this weekend, but they have a TALL task at hand as they travel to Adrian College, who sits undefeated at 8-0-0-0, out scoring opponents 62 to 8… this won’t be an easy weekend, but a sweep? Damn son.. give em the Natty now..
The #2 Liberty D2 (11-1-0-0) squad will be competing in another showcase this weekend as they head to the Lindenwood University Showcase. They’ll play three games, taking on Lindenwood (6-2-0-0), Cincinnati (4-2-0-0), and Umass-Amherst (6-0-0-0). Tough weekend no doubt, but they Flames will be looking to show out with three wins.
Lady Liberty D1 (10-1-0-1) will be hosting Adrian (2-2-1-0) this weekend as they, like EVERY OTHER LIBERTY TEAM, looks to keep on winning, coming off that massive 4 win sweep last weekend. Things are looking good for the Flames as they keep working towards their third straight national championship.
Lady Flames D2 (2-0-0-0) will also be at home this weekend as they’ll be on a three game slate hosting Mercyhurt, Jr Hurricanes, and the high flying Naval Academy (5-1-1-0). Sunday’s game is looking to be the match up of the weekend, as one of the DMV D2 ladies teams look to separate themselves from the other. Navy will play a game the day before @ Mercyhurst.
Navy Men Set Sail for a Bounce-back
Both Naval Academy Men’s teams hit the road this weekend after going win-less between the two last weekend. Navy D1 (4-4-0-2) will travel to take on Lehigh (2-3-0-0) and a tough William Paterson (4-1-0-0) team as they look to get back above .500 and end a tough slide. Navy D2 (2-5-0-0) will travel to take on #6 George Washington (4-1-0-0) who is off to a hot satrt, and coming off a bye weekend, will be looking to keep momentum going with a big win over a sliding Navy team.
Tigers Pink the Rink
Towson (1-8-0-1) is coming off a weekend that saw them comeback and push a game to OT, but eventually drop. They host RIT this weekend and are looking for another win to slowly turn the season to a bit of an upside. Saturday’s game is the Pink the Rink game, so go out and support!
Gulls Host Division Rival
#5 Salisbury (National) (6-3-0-1) only have one game this weekend, but it’s a bug one as they host DVCHC divisional rival Stockton. Gull’s look to stay hot and stay in first place in the division with a win over a weak Stockton team.
Full Slate of DVCHC Women’s
There’s a TON of games going down this weekend! George Mason (2-0-0-0) has only one contest as they’ll hit the road against IUP on Sunday. Loyola (1-1-0-0) and Towson (1-2-0-0) square off in a Baltimore area rivalry for their only games of the weekend. Maryland ladies who are off to a hot (4-1-0-0) travel to the take on the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Virginia Happenings
Here’s what’s going on around Virginia, since most of these teams don’t update any of their social or website often.
Radford (2-3-0-0) will travel to William & Mary (1-4-0-0) for a weekend series
American (0-6-0-0) will host App State
Richmond (2-4-0-0) faces off vs
NOVA CC (0-4-0-0) host Rowan tonight
Two for Terps
The Terps (3-4-0-2) have a big weekend as they host both the Delaware Ducks and a solid Rowan squad. The Terps are looking for a sweep, as they’ve struggled the past two weekends and look to get back into the top 10.
Georgetown Back in Action
Georgetown (2-3-0-0) is also back after a bye week and they’ll be hosting St. Joe’s from Philly on Saturday. A win get em to .500, and some confidence to rattle off a few in a row to get into the power rankings discussion.
