Previous Rank: 2

Another weekend, another sweep for the D2 Liberty men’s squad as they breeze through Rider on the road. Saturday’s contest saw them, tied at 1-1 before four unanswered goals from Mitchell, Flanders, Nash, and Norwinski lead the Flames to a 5-1 lead, and eventual 7-4 win. Sunday’s contest would be much of the same, outside of the fact the Flames would pitch a shutout led by Dakota Cyhaniuk who turned away all 20 shots faced.

Weekend Results: SAT @ Rider 7-4 W, SUN @ Rider 5-0 W

Next Up: 11/22 and 11/23 @ University of Delaware (9-5-0-0)

#2 – Liberty (ACHA D1) 14-3-0-0

Previous Rank: 1

Highest Rank: 1

It’s basically a weekly flip flop at this point between the D1 and D2 Liberty squads. Both of em ball out, so the only thing that can make them change is how they fair over the weekend compared to the other. The D2 team swept, the D1 team went 1-1, so there’s the backing for your change. The Flames would drop game one of the weekend 2-4, but bounce back with a huge 5-3 win after jumping out to 4-0 lead with goals from Laukaitis, Fricks, Bergen, and Gammer. The split helped the Flames reclaim the ESCHL lead from NYU.

Weekend Results: FRI @ NYU 2-4 L, SAT @ NYU 5-3 W

Next Up: 11/22 and 11/23 @ Syracuse (3-7-0-0)

#3 – George Washington (ACHA D2) 10-2-0-0

Previous Rank: 3

Highest Rank: 3

Put the win streak to three for the Colonials, but even more impressive? That’s 9 of their last 10 they’ve won. HOW ARE YA. This GW squad is on a roll and don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. They’ve got cross town rival Georgetown this weekend in a huge rivalry match-up, then host Drexel. This will be their last weekend of games until the new year (we think, based on the website) Think the boys would love to go into Christmas break at 12-2-0-0? Yeah, we think so.

Weekend Results: SAT vs St. Joseph’s 9-3 W

Next Up: 11/22 @ Georgetown (4-5-0-0), 11/23 vs Drexel (4-8-0-0)]

Highest Rank: 4

George Mason is now finding themselves at #4, their highest spot in the Chirpin’ DMV rankings this season so far, and for good reason. The win streak is up to four since losing the SO to #3 George Washington, and they sit at 10 wins in their last 11 with no regulation loss. Friday night they traveled to U Pitt-Johnstown and picked up a 5-3 win with goals by Trvor Mack, Rosenberger, Nicky Grose, Contos, and you guessed it, Cam Smith. A Day later they would head to Penn State-Altoona and absolutely THROTTLE em 12-4. Cam Smith is up to 33 goals on the year, so we’re officially on the #50Watch for the Smith show.

The Hokies had a wild one at home this weekend against a damn good cock hockey team in South Carolina. The boys would find themselves down 0-3 in the first before Hathaway would net one before the first pd was over to give the boys a little momentum. This would start four unanswered as Wildgrube would net one in the second and third, followed by Hoey making it 4-3. South Carolina would score with 1:21 left in the game to tie it, and neither team would score in OT.

Weekend Results: SAT vs South Carolina 4-4 T

Catholic had another big weekend, defeating division rival Neumann 6-1 to take sole possession of first place in the DVCHC American Division. They followed that win up with a 4-3 slim win over a struggling VCU team, but none the less, it’s a weekend sweep for the Cards as they start to cement themselves as one of the top teams in the DMV.

The NCAA Stangs are staying put at #8 despite being early in the season for them, but they’ve taken advantage of the early go and are off to a great 3-1 start. They suffered their first loss of the season in a tough 3-2 loss vs MAC rival Wilkes. They would follow that up however with a massive road win at Morrisville behind a 2 goal performance by Chad Watt and the other tally going to Nick Gray.

Weekend Results: FRI vs Wilkes 2-3 L, SAT @ Morrisville 3-1 W

Next Up: 11/22 @ Manhattanville (2-3-1-0), 11/23 at Neumann (1-3-0-0)

Previous Rank: 9

Rank Change: ↔

Highest Rank: 8

The Captains had a hell of a weekend, putting up a combined 29 goals in just two games for a weekend sweep. Oh yeah, they also pitched two shutouts. Here’s the kicker tho, they played a NOVA CC team that get buried just about every game, so there’s nothing to write home about with the weekend sweep and all the goals. They’ll look for another sweep this weekend against a win-less Coastal squad on the road.

Weekend Results: FRI @ NOVA 17-0 W, SAT @ NOVA 12-0 W

Next Up: 11/22 and 11/23 @ Coastal (0-6-0-0)

The Midshipmen are back in the rankings after a big two win weekend. They would grind out a low scoring affair with Drexel on Friday night with Conner Hyden netting the game winner early in the second period, then goalie Charles Doherty would turn away 57 of 58 shots on the night to seasl the Navy win. Doherty would ball on Saturday as well, getting a liughter load only facing 27 and stopping 25, and Conner Hyden would have himself a night with a goal and apple for two points, as well as Joe Kelly, Xiao, and Jamieson finding the back of the net to give Navy the weekend sweep.

Weekend Results: FRI vs Drexel 2-1 W, SAT vs Villanova 4-2 W

Next Up: 11/22 vs West Chester (11-4-0-0)
