It’s the first college power rankings of the new year… so that means nothing has changed. Yes, there were a few games by a handful of teams this past weekend, but we’ll wait till everyone get’s rolling again to start breaking down the DMV squads as they all prepare for the second half of the season. For some teams, it’s finish strong and enjoy the year, while others have their eyes set on Nationals. SO, here’s a reminder of your top 10 in the DMV.

The D2 Flames were one of the few teams that were back in action this past weekend as they get ready to hit the ice in the new year. They started 2020 off with a showcase weekend at the University of Miami Ohio. They had a 2-0-1 weekend to improve that already insane record as they have eyes set on a national championship.

There’s no doubt that GW got off to an amazing start to the season, sitting at that 12-2 record. BUTTT.. can they keep it going? They’ll find out pretty quickly this weekend as they have a Chirpin DMV top 10 showdown with #6 George Mason. Last time around? GW won it in a shootout.

The eight game heater came crashing to an end Friday night in Reiserstown as the Stangs hosted the #2 ranked team in D3 Geneseo. It was a scoreless 1st period until Geneseo broke it open with three tucks. The following day wouldn’t go as planned either as the mustangs fell in OT, 4-3.

It was a hot start for the Hokies this weekend as they jump right back into the swing of things defeating both WVU and UNC at home. They have a top 10 showdown this weekend against arguably their biggest rival, Virginia. They’ll follow that up with a “hokies should cruise” type game against Richmond.
