“Cause it’s Friday; you ain’t got no job… and you ain’t got s**t to do!!” – Smokey from ‘Friday’

Two weeks in a row you get a treat from ICE CUBE, so you’re welcome. But trust me, there’s plenty to do tonight as we’ve got 34 games across the DMV including some top teams going head to head and some serious playoff standings on the line. Don’t got s**t to do tonight? GO TO A RINK AND WATCH SOME HOCKEY. So, let’s see who’s playing where and when…

MAPHL

#3 Landon (4-1-0) @ #2 Georgetown Prep (6-1-0)

Cabin John, 6:30 PM puck drop

As far as the week so far is concerned, Georgetown Prep is rolled over Wootton 8-1, and Landon suffered their first loss of the season vs #6 DeMatha 4-1. It’s a massive rivalry, it’s a match-up of last years IAC championship game, and it’s a massive 2 points on the line tonight. This one’s a coin flip in my opinion, but I expect this game to be fast, physical, low scoring and expect the student sections to be jumpin’ out the rink.

Calvert Hall (1-6-0) @ Spalding (0-4-4)

Piney Orchard, 3:10 PM puck drop

The Spalding record of 4 losses and 4 ties baffles me to be honest. This game however? MASSIVE stakes on the line tonight. St Albans currently hold the last playoff spot, but Spalding is only one point behind, and Calvert Hall only three behind. Winner of this is staying in the playoff hunt, while the loser… well… you’ll get em next year.

#4 Gonzaga (3-3-0) @ #6 DeMatha (4-2-1)

St Albans (1-2-3) @ Bullis (1-6-0)

St Paul’s (join the damn MAPHL already) @ #8 Mt St Joes (3-2-2)

CSHL

#10 TC Williams (7-0-0) @ Washington-Liberty (7-1-0)

MedStar Iceplex, 6:40 PM puck drop

The game of the season in the CSHL as we’ve got a good ole fashioned championship rematch. Both teams are averaging over seven goals scored a game, and less than 2.5 goals against a game. High scoring vs strong defense. One of these has to break tonight as we’ll get an idea of who the real top dog of the CSHL is after this game.

Robinson (0-5-2) @ Lake Braddock (7-1-0)

The St. James, 8:20 PM puck drop

The South leading Bruins look to stay in the mix for top seed in the league as they host a win-less Robinson team. It’s the last league game of the season for the Bruins (I think.. ie the WT Woodson game has no score) and they looked primed and ready for a deep run in this years playoffs.

WT Woodson (3-3-0) @ Colgan (4-3-0)

Prince William, 7:40 PM puck drop

This is an interesting match-up between two very similar teams. Woodson, after starting the season 1-3, has ripped off two wins in a row while the Sharks had their two game win streak snapped by Forest Park on their last go around. Despite their last two wins, Woodson is still letting up 3+ goals in those wins, so they’ll need to buckle down tonight to get these two points.

MSHL

Urbana (6-2-1) @ Middletown (3-6-0)

Skate Frederick – Rink 2, 4:45 PM puck drop

Urbana is in a bit of a rut, , going 1-2-2 over their last four, while Middletown has won two in a row, breaking their six game losing streak. Middletowns Stevie Ferrone has five points during this two game heater for his team, so if he has a big game, expect a potential three game streak for his squad.

Wootton (7-3-1) @ Quince Orchard (4-4-2)

Cabin John, 8:15 PM puck drop

Wootton holds a one point lead over Bethesda Chevy-Chase for second place in the Montgomery conference, but that lead should be a lot more. Since their four game winning streak in December, they’ve started 2020 with a tie and two losses. This is a chance to get a huge win to keep the wheels from falling off.

Huntingtown (8-0-0) @ Northern (5-1-2)

Capital Clubhouse, 6:45 PM puck drop

A lot playing in to tonight’s marquee match-up in the Southern Conference. Two massive rivals, the Patriots Senior night, a rematch of a game that saw the Canes take the first one by a score of 5-4 in a nail biter. Yes, H-Town has clinched the regular season title already, but Northern is coming for blood. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out and if the Canes can stay undefeated.

Saints (0-9-0) @ Fallston (9-1-0)

Ice World – RInk A, 6:20 PM puck drop

A win-less Saints team vs the top team in the Eastern Conference. How do you actually expect this one to go? lol…….

Walter Johnson (5-4-2) @ Walt Whitman (0-11-0)

Cabin John – NHL, 10:00 PM puck drop

Walter Johnson caught the defending champs with a tie last week, so expect them to come into this game surging against the win-less Vikings squad.

NVSHL

Oakton (2-6-0) @ South Lakes (0-8-0)

SkateQuest Reston – OLY, 7:55 PM puck drop

There really isn’t much on the line in this games besides some skaters tryna build on their individual stats. The two bottom teams in the Adams division will fight to stay out of last place.

Fauquier/Highlands (4-5-0) @ Battlefield (6-1-1)

Haymarket – North, 8:00 PM puck drop

Big bounce back night for this Battlefield squad on senior night as they look to put last weeks tough loss in the past. A win tonight all but guarantees Battlefield a Patrick Division championship.

Loudoun Valley/Woodgrove (1-6-0) @ Yorktown (5-2-1)

MedStar Capitals, 8:10 PM puck drop

Yorktown, win or lose, is going to be sitting second in the Norris division as there’s no catching Chantilly this year. Yorktown will use these last few games to fine tune their squad to prepare for a potential deep playoff run.

Chantilly (8-0-0) @ Kettle Run/Liberty (3-2-2)

Haymarket – South, 9:00 PM puck drop

Chantilly (AB’s team of the week on yesterday pod) doesn’t just do that hockey, they do that WINNIN. They’ll be looking to stay undefeated with a win tonight, and i’m taking the Chargers in this one.

Riverside (5-1-1) @ Briar Woods (5-2-0)

Ashburn – West, 9:20 PM puck drop

It’s 2 vs 3 in the Smythe division, where the winner will be leaving the rink with sole possession of second place. These two points are huge for both teams, so expect a battle late tonight in Ashburn.

Broad Run (7-1-0) @ Independence/Rock Ridge (1-5-1)

Ashburn – East, 9:10 PM puck drop

Senior night for the Smythe division leaders as they take on one win Rock Ridge. I’ll be the first to go ahead and congratulate the Broad Run seniors on their big win on their special night.
