“I’ll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it’s sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.” – KOBE
Power Rankings are outttttttttt, and they are a day late, deal with it. But, with that being said, i’m including yesterdays MAPHL games into the rankings. We got some serious changes after a wild week across the DMV, so let’s take a look, shall we?
#1 – Georgetown Prep (MAPHL) 10-2-0
Previous Rank: 2
Rank Change: ▲1
Highest Rank: 1
Welcome to the #1 spot in the DMV, Prep. They kicked things off by throttling Wootton early last week 8-1, then faced their rival Landon in a top 5 match-up. The Hoyas would come from behind to top the Bears, 3-2 thanks to a Walker Johnston game winner. They now sit first in the MAPHL at 7-1, with two very winnable games remaining.
Previous Results: WED vs Wootton 8-1 W, FRI vs #3 Landon 3-2 W
Next Up: 1/29 vs Bullis (1-7-0), 1/31 vs St. Stephens St Agnes (A)
#2 – St. John’s (MAPHL) 16-3-1
Previous Rank: 1

Highest Rank: 1
A one game week, on the road, rather early, and against a tough O’Connell team that just a few weeks prior pushed them to a shootout. The Cadets were able to claw back from a multi goal deficit, but their efforts weren’t enough as they lose their first WCAC and MAPHL game of the year.
Previous Results: WED @ #5 O’Connell 4-7 L
Next Up: 1/29 vs #3 Gonzaga (11-6-4)
#3 – Gonzaga (MAPHL) 11-6-4

Highest Rank: 3
An undefeated week for the E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLESSSS as they go two and oh so nice after defeating Spalding 5-0, then winning a huge road game Friday vs #6 DeMatha, 5-2. They sit 4-3 in MAPHL standings.
Previous Results: WED vs Spalding 5-0 W, FRI @ #6 DeMatha 5-2 W
Next Up: 1/29 @ #2 St Johns (16-3-1)
#4 – Bishop O’Connell (11-7-2)
Previous Rank: 5
Rank Change: ▲1
Highest Rank: 4
Last week was a massive win for this O’Connell squad. They take down the #1 team in St Johns, a team they lost to in a shootout at Purple Puck, and they handed the Cadets their first league and WCAC loss of the season. Huge momentum boost right? Not quite… as they drop a toughhh one last night to #8 Mt St Joe’s, as they get shutout 3-0 in what would have been a huge two points.
Previous Results: WED vs #1 St John’s 7-4 W, MON @ #8 MSJ 0-3 L
Next Up: 1/29 vs #6 Landon (8-2-0)
#5 – DeMatha (MAPHL) 10-8-3
Previous Rank: 6
Rank Change: ▲1
Highest Rank: 5
The Stags picked up two wins in three games over the last half week as they kicked things off with a massive road win over then undefeated Landon 4-1. They struggled Friday night at home vs a surging Gonzaga team and dropped a 2-5 decision, but bounced back last night with a dominating 8-3 win over St Albans.
Previous Results: WED @ #3 Landon 4-1 W, FRI vs #4 Gonzaga 2-5 L, MON vs St Albans 8-3 W
Next Up: 1/31 vs YORK (IL)
#6 – Landon (MAPHL) 8-2-0
Previous Rank: 3
Rank Change: ▼3
Highest Rank: 3
Eight games in and undefeated, I felt their only true test so far had been against Gonzaga, a game the Bears won 7-2, and said last week would be a true test, a season defining test for them. Two top 6 teams? two and oh and the Bears would have been feeling oh so good. Well, things didn’t go as planned as they lost AT HOME to DeMatha 1-4, and on the road vs rival Georgetown Prep, 2-3. Not how you wanna fair against the toughest teams in the league to try and prove you’re a “contender”.
Previous Results: WED vs #6 DeMatha 1-4 L, FRI @ #2 Georgetown Prep 2-3 L
Next Up: 1/29 @ #4 O’Connell (11-7-2), 1/31 vs St Albans (2-2-3)
#7 – Mt. St. Joe’s (MAPHL) 9-4-4
Previous Rank: 8
Rank Change: ▲1
Highest Rank: 7
Mt St Joe’s had a massive week as they just clinched their first ever berth in the MAPHL playoffs, so congrats boys!! The Gaels are sitting in second in the MAPHL at 4-2-2 with a make up game against St John’s looming, and contest against Calvert Hall tonight. If, and they should win tonight, they could find themselves with a favorable seed in the playoffs.
Previous Results: FRI vs St Paul’s 8-1 W, MON vs #5 O’Connell 3-0 W
Next Up: 1/28 @ Calvert Hall (1-7-0)
#8 – Marriott’s Ridge (MSHL) 10-0-1
Previous Rank: 7

The #StangGang beat Atholton last week…. we think? I assume so, but the MSHL website just says 1-0 with no stats.
Previous Results: vs Atholton 1-0 W
Next Up: 1/31 vs Reservoir (4-4-1)
#9 – TC Williams (CSHL) 8-0-0
Previous Rank: 10
Rank Change: ▲1
Highest Rank: 9
We are the Titans, MIGHTY MIGHT Titans. Huge win for the TC Williams squad last week as they went toe-to-toe with top team in the league for a championship rematch of last year as they took on Washington-Liberty. How’d the rematch go? TC Williams straight up BEAT THE WHEELS off the Generals.
Previous Results: FRI @ Washington-Liberty 7-1 W
Next Up: 2/7 vs West Springfield (6-2-0)
#10 – Winston Churchill (MSHL) 9-5-2
Previous Rank: 9
Rank Change:
Highest Rank: 9
I’m not gonna lie, I want to move down this Churchill squad for a second consecutive tie, especially seeing Wootton losing to a not so great Richard Montgomery squad last week, but I just don’t see any team behind them (yet) that looks like a better lineup.
