Alright Caps fans, we are officially counting down the hours before puck drop on the 2021 season. This will be my projections on stats leaders / superlative awards by year end.
Points: Going to have to go with the Norris Finalist, John Carlson. He was the only Cap with more than 1 point per game. I going to say he notches around 60pts give or take.
Goals: Obvious choice, Alex Ovechkin. I will make it easy, if Ovi pots 36 goals this year he moves into sole possession of 4th all time in goals. Passing Hull, Dionne, Esposito and former Cap, Mike Gartner. If he somehow hits 60 goals in 56 games he will be tied with Jagr for 3 rd place. However, I am going to stick with 36 tucks for the GOAT.
Assists: Going with JC74 here again, feeding Ovi on the PP all year combined with his ice time should lead to around 40 points via an assist.
PIMS: This one is a two horse race between Dillon and Wilson. Last year is the first time Tom Wilson did not crest 100 penalty minutes. However factoring in playing the Penguins as often as they do this season, I have got to think Willy racks up some significant sin bin time.
Now time for some fun high school superlative awards…

Best head shot: Carl Hagelin, tell me this isn’t the face of a man looking for a redemption season. That’s a 4th line look if I have ever seen one. Time for a bounce back year for Hags.

Best Bromance: Vrana and Oshie. I mean, what else is there to say? Can’t wait to see this bromance
continue to blossom.

Best Smile: seems to be an obvious choice, a jaw line chiseled out of stone, clean set of chiclets and a beard that solicits envy from people like Billman and AB.

Best Flow: Some serious lettuce hanging out of the back of that bucket. Only way to make it better would be to see it flailing around after pumping Malkin a few rights.
